Monday, 20th February – CfC Presentation to Ms. Pam Raven, Subject Leader of National Curriculum Review for History

By Dr. Matthew Wilkinson

At the instigation of the office of the Secretary of State for Education, Rt. Hon. Michael Gove, Dr. Matthew Tariq Wilkinson presented some the key aims, findings and recommendations of the Curriculum for Cohesion in History to Ms. Pam Raven, Subject Leader of National Curriculum Review for History at the Department for Education.  We had an excellent conversation and Ms. Raven was most interested in our outlook and suggestions.  She kindly made Dr. Matthew Tariq Wilkinson very much aware of the precise nature of and processes involved in the National Curriculum Review for History.  She confirmed that the Review is likely to be a ‘root and branch’ affair and therefore all curricular options are up for discussion.

The upshot of the meeting is that the Curriculum for Cohesion is now an official stakeholder in the National Curriculum Review for History and will be a part of the workshops and other tools of the consultation process.
