On 20 June 2012, Curriculum for Cohesion was invited to present its findings and recommendations to a joint meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Education and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Islamophobia.
This invitation arose from the Rt. Hon. Simon Hughes MP for Southwark & Bermondsey and Mr. Fabian Hamilton MP for Leeds North East recognising the potential of Curriculum for Cohesion to address Islamophobia through better Humanities Education.
The result of this joint APPG meeting was that the Rt. Hon. Simon Hughes MP, Mr. Fabian Hamilton MP, Mr. Nick Boles MP for Grantham and Stamford, the Rt. Hon. Jack Straw MP for Blackburn, and our patron the Rt. Hon. Sadiq Khan MP for Tooting decided that they wanted to take our recommendations to the Secretary of State for Education the Rt. Hon Michael Gove MP.
Please see meeting with Ms. Elizabeth Truss MP, Under-Secretary of State for Education and Mr. Marc Cavey, Senior Policy Advisor at the Department for Education.
You can download a PowerPoint version of Matthew Wilkinson’s oral presentation to the joint APPG meeting. It was not possible to record Dr Wilkinson’s presentation but he has re-voiced it in the video below with the slides.
